Will the rug pad damage or discolor my floor?Updated 2 months ago

Our rug pads are latex-free and made with thermoplastic resin. They're designed for use on most common hard flooring types, including LVP, laminate, and sealed hardwood floors. However, flooring materials, finishes, and environmental conditions can vary widely. We recommend confirming compatibility directly with your flooring manufacturer prior to use whether there are any specific restrictions regarding resin-based pads.

To help protect your floors over time and reduce the risk of damage, the following care practices are strongly recommended:

  • Regular maintenance: Sweep and/or vacuum underneath the rug and pad at least every 3 months to prevent the buildup of dust, moisture, or debris.

  • After spills or accidents: If liquid may have seeped through to the pad, lift both the rug and pad and ensure all surfaces are completely dry before placing them back down.

  • Heat and humidity considerations: Avoid placing rugs and pads in areas exposed to excessive heat or humidity, such as directly over floor vents or radiant heat sources. In high-humidity climates, we recommend lifting and cleaning underneath the pad at least monthly to reduce the risk of moisture becoming trapped between the pad and the floor surface.

  • Sun exposure: Please note that floor coverings of any kind may cause discoloration over time when placed in areas with direct or prolonged sunlight, as surrounding flooring may age or fade unevenly.

Following these guidelines can help reduce the risk of floor damage and support the best long-term experience with your rug and pad.
